Dispatch.com Adds Online Coupons
The Columbus Dispatch and several additional newspapers join boodle™ network to feature online grocery coupons.
SAN DIEGO (April 27, 2006) — The Columbus Dispatch has added a suite of online coupon products from boodle™, the leading online grocery coupon marketplace on newspaper Web sites, to Dispatch.com. Visitors to the site now have access to online coupons from popular consumer brands such as Betty Crocker, Chex, Pillsbury and General Mills. The paper is also partnering with boodle to feature an online coupon organizer and offers from local merchants through boodle’s Local Coupon Program.
The Columbus Dispatch joins nearly 400 newspapers that currently feature boodle grocery coupons on their Web counterparts, demonstrating the growing demand of coupons as an online medium.
"Coupons remain an important part of the consumer shopping experience," said Gerry Barker, general manager for Dispatch Digital at The Columbus Dispatch. "The addition of boodle to our web sites creates new opportunities for both our readers and our advertisers."
In addition to online grocery coupons, the Columbus Dispatch signed on for boodle’s Local Coupon Program which enables it to distribute coupons from an array of locally-based merchants including restaurants, nail salons, dry cleaners, etc. It will also begin utilizing The boodleIZER™ Online Coupon Organizer which makes it easier for consumers to keep track of the thousands of grocery coupons The Columbus Dispatch distributes every year in the Sunday paper. Consumers will no longer miss savings opportunities because they didn’t realize they had a coupon for a particular product.
"Traditional newspaper ad categories are under intense pressure. It seems like every week some new online entity is taking yet another shot at autos or real estate or any number of other categories," said Jeff Beliveau, Vice President of Newspaper Relations for boodle. "Online coupons provide an invaluable channel to bring new audiences to newspaper Web sites and offers from local merchants enables newspaper sites to add non-traditional advertisers, giving consumers a reason to visit the auto or homes or restaurant section week after week after week."
Other daily newspapers that recently added boodle online coupon sections include The Brown County Press, Brown County, Ohio; Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga, Tenn.; The Clermont Sun, Batavia, Ohio; Columbia Basin Herald, Moses Lake, Wash.; The Highland Sun, Hillsboro, Ohio; and Livingston County Daily Press & Argus, Howell, Mich.
